The South District is a large area commonly known as the quieter and predominantly residential area in Gibraltar. It is split between upper and lower regions and enjoys its own unique micro-climate, particularly during easterly winds which affect the town centre and north western districts.
The area comprises of middle and high end residential developments such as The Anchorage, Cliftons, Rosia Plaza, Vineyards as well as some exclusive upper high end developments and private residential homes including Buena Vista Park, The Sanctuary and New Aloes.
The location generally affords great views and aspects southward towards the Bay, Strait of Gibraltar and Africa. The district enjoys the benefit of two junior and middle schools, Loreto Convent and St Josephs.
In addition, there are numerous historic, touristic and leisure sites in the area, including Parsons Lodge, Europa Point Park, 100 Ton Gun, Rosia Bay and Camp Bay as well as the famous The Botanical Gardens.
