While few of those who have decided to rent commercial property in Gibraltar down the years with BMI Group’s assistance will need to be further convinced about the British Overseas Territory’s potent business credentials, we were nonetheless pleased to learn about the recent launch of the ThinkGibraltar campaign.
What is ThinkGibraltar?
ThinkGibraltar is an initiative by the Gibraltarian government to encourage interest in doing business in the territory, drawing attention to the post-Brexit opportunities afforded by the close relationship between Gibraltar and the United Kingdom.
The campaign will run for two months, with ThinkGibraltar advertising set to feature on the side of some 300 taxis and 100 buses in London, as well as at 40 of the capital’s key commuter stations, including London Bridge, Liverpool Street and Waterloo.
The central hub of the campaign is the ThinkGibraltar.gi website, which the public is urged to visit to discover why Gibraltar remains a great place to do business across a range of industries – including distributed ledger technologies, gaming, investment funds, insurance and finance.
A proud declaration that “Gibraltar is open for business”
Albert Isola, commerce minister for HM Government of Gibraltar, commented: “Gibraltarians are some of the most adaptable and resilient people in the world. As the Chief Minister has mentioned on numerous occasions, we are a world-class jurisdiction with world-class talent. This campaign is intended to highlight that and show the world that Gibraltar is open for business.”
He explained that while it was “no secret” more than 95% of Gibraltarians had voted to remain in the European Union in the 2016 referendum on the UK’s membership of the bloc, “we have a fiercely loyal and close relationship with the UK and we have adapted our offering to position ourselves to be one of the leading financial environments in the world, regardless of the Brexit outcome. Our track record and results are proven, not promised. We are the smart option.”
